Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

In short: because every bake is made to order and is perishable, the usual 14-day “change of mind” right doesn't apply. You can still move your date with enough notice, you get a full refund if I cancel, and you're always protected if something's wrong with your order.

1. Why there's no 14-day cancellation period

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, the 14-day right to cancel online or distance orders doesn't apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised, or to goods that go off quickly. Custom cakes and fresh bakes are both. This page explains what happens instead.

2. Your deposit

The deposit reserves your date. I may turn other orders away for that date and buy ingredients in advance, so the deposit is non-refundable if you cancel, except as set out below.

3. If you need to cancel or change

Changes to flavours or designs are usually fine with at least 7 days' notice. Just ask.

4. If I have to cancel

If I can't make your order for any reason, I'll tell you as soon as possible and refund everything you've paid, including the deposit.

5. If something is wrong with your order

If your order is faulty, not as described or not what we agreed, message me as soon as possible, ideally on the day, with photos. Keep the bake if you can. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 you're entitled to a remedy, and I'll offer a full or partial refund, depending on the problem. This doesn't cover damage after collection or delivery, or small differences that are normal in handmade bakes.

6. How refunds are paid

I'll refund you within 14 days of agreeing the amount, using the same payment method you used, unless we agree otherwise. There's no fee.

To cancel, change an order or ask a question, send me an Instagram message to @cakedbyabbie (opens in a new tab). This policy forms part of the Terms & Conditions and doesn't affect your statutory rights.
